Our Training Methods

Puppenschnoodles uses Positive-Reinforcement methods only! New to Positive Training? Take it from us—it's FUN—as dog training should be! We use Humane, Holistic and Incredibly Effective techniques! We want you to have a Happy and Healthy Pup for life and we don't want your dog to just learn commands. We want you to learn how to communicate with them while strengthening the bond between you and your pup.

How it Works

The idea is to reward your pup for correct behavior and not punish for incorrect behavior or force a dog to comply through "dominance" techniques. We never want to punish our pups as we cannot effectively punish dogs in a way they understand. Punishing or forcing your pup to comply will eventually instill fear and confusion in them and make the training process harder, longer and eventually unreliable. Often times, these techniques can also lead to other behavior problems such as fear-based aggression in dogs.

How Puppenschnoodles is Different

The biggest difference between our methods and most other "Dog Trainers" is that our focus is always on nutrition, first and foremost, before beginning a training regimen. Why? Because it simply plays that big of a role in the training process. If your dog can absorb and retain the nutrition he needs, he will be able to focus and pay attention, which means he'll be more obedient! Works every time!

Holistic Training Services

Holistic? Yes, that's what we offer—training services that address the whole dog. Please see our Class Schedule for available dates and times, unless otherwise noted. *Prices subject to change.

• Puppy Preparatory (Sandy)—
  Six-week course designed to help with common puppy issues i.e. biting, barking, jumping up, potty training, etc. We also address basic health and holistic nutrition.
• The 4 P's of Potty Training (Sandy)—
  A one-hour class to help with any and all potty training issues. Doesn't matter if you have an adult dog at home that isn't reliable or a new puppy that just doesn't get it—this class is for you!
• Adult Manners 1 (Sandy)—
  A six-week course designed to continue socialization while focusing on your dog's body language and appropriate manners.


• Adult Manners 2 (Sandy)—
  Prerequisite: Adult Manners 1 (or comparable class, must be approved by instructor before registration) A six-week course designed to solidify basic manners, teach some tricks and train the perfect off-leash dog.
• Rover's Reliable Recall (Sandy)—
  Prerequisite: Adult Manners 1 (or private lessons completed with Puppenschnoodles). It's finally here—the training cue that most people struggle with! This class is designed to specifically address your dog's recall. Four weeks long, focusing specifically on off-leash recalls.
• Canine Good Citizen (Sandy)—
  Prerequisite: Adult Manners 1 (or private lessons completed with Puppenschnoodles). Six-week class focused specifically on obtaining CGC Certification through the AKC. Cost of class includes official test.


• Mannerly Mutts (Salt Lake City)—
  This mini-series gives you the basic skill foundation to work with your pup. Only six weeks long, it is easy to fit into your schedule and will teach your pup some of the basics!
• Foundations to Agility (Sandy)—
  Prerequisite: Adult Manners 1 (or comparable class, must be approved by instructor before registration.) A six-week course perfect for anyone wanting optimum communication attention and focus with their dog! Whether you want to compete in a dog sport or not—this class will give you an incredible foundation to perform, or simply to have a stellar dog!
• Tricks 'n' Clicks (Sandy)—
  Entire class is done with a clicker, so you must already be comfortable using a clicker. Prerequisite: Adult Manners 1 (or comparable class, must be approved by instructor before registration.) A five-week course focusing on trick behaviors. FUN & exciting way to bond with your pup and keep their mind active. Each week learn a new, fun trick, including one of your choice!


• Private Training (Sandy)—
  Training in a controlled private setting. Just like the "In-Home" training, we'll address a variety of behavioral issues along with a brief overview of nutrition, by appointment only. Please note: Currently these spots are extremely limited and are only available on Tuesdays. Great for Reactive Dogs!
• In-Home Private Training (Salt Lake and Utah counties)—
  Convenient training that comes to you! Address a variety of behavioral issues along with a brief overview of nutrition. These sessions are by appointment only and prices are subject to location (within 15 miles of Sandy, Utah). Great for Reactive Dogs!
• I Want it All! (Salt Lake and Utah counties)—
  Whether you have a brand new pup at home or an older dog who you simply want to polish perfectly, this package gives you everything you need. Unlimited training for one year—including any and all classes you would like to join as well as six private lessons (price is subject to location).
