"Nick and I got our puppy Chance in May of 2006. He was about 5 months old when we got him. We found him at a PetSmart adoption day. At my house I only had two other cats so he was the only dog. He did well with the crate training and warming up to us. About two months later, Nick and I moved in together. Nick's house had two older resident dogs and one resident cat. The meshing of the cats seemed to go fine after a while, but the dogs were having a hard time getting used to Chance. None of the dogs would listen to me, one of the dogs would bark all the time, feeding time was out of control, bringing them in at night was a disaster - and the oldest female dog and Chance fought constantly. It was a nightmare! Chance started to hate his crate and refused to go in it.
A friend of mine knew Anna really well and referred me to her. We called her and set up a time for her to come out to our house and help us. It was really convenient that she would make house calls. Not only did we not have to pack up all three dogs (which would have never happened) but she said she wanted to observe them in their own environment. I really didn't think it all would help much, but we were out of options and our sanity was running thin! We could not believe how much we learned in just the first night she came out! It was amazing to see how the dogs all listened to her right off the bat (I now call her the "Dog Whisperer"). She just knew how to relate to them, was so informed and intuitive to what they needed. In about 20 minutes she knew exactly what all the problems were. She informed us on dog behavior and taught us to think like the dogs. Reminding us that they are not people, they are animals and to understand their behavior we have to understand their natural insticts.
She taught us how to best feed them, how to give commands the correct way and which commands worked and which didn't. We did not even realize that we were feeding them food that was actually making our puppy more hyper - we had no idea! She gave us other food and treat options that were within our budget and gave us the correct amounts to feed them. She taught me how to be "the leader of the pack" so that I could gain more respect with the animals and then she even taught us how to get Chance to love his crate again. She spent as much time as we needed to ask questions and deal with issues for such a great price! I have to say, we were AMAZED! I was sure that the hardest part would implementing the work ourselves, but with all the information she gave us, it all made sense and was easy to do. The next few days we stayed on top of everything we had learned and by the end of 2 weeks we had a happy household!! Nick and I were more in control of the dogs, they listen and obey. It took a little bit longer for Chance to really love his crate again, but with all the training we got from Anna, it did happen. Now, 5 months later our feeding times are still organized and calm, play time is always fun, cuddle time is nice and bedtime is quiet.
I cannot say enough about the skills, patience and knowledge Anna has. She is just a natural at what she does and you can tell she loves it. The animals love her. We are so thankful that we found her! She even came out for a second time as a follow up appointment. She watched us interact with the animals, gave us more pointers and got to see all of our progress! We honestly don't know what we would have done without her training - we were at the end of our rope. I have been to other training sessions before, but Anna is so hands on, so informed and so willing to help. You can tell that she loves dogs so much and she wants everyone to be good dog owners. She works hard to create that loving relationship between dogs and their families - she just truly cares. I have recommended to her to many of my friends and will continue to do so. I wanted to write this testimonial for others who feel as lost as we did so they know that Anna's training will work and you will enjoy your puppies again!!"
